Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Adira Health & Wellness

Adira Health & Wellness is a holistic mental health and recovery center dedicated to providing comprehensive care for individuals of all ages. We offer a range of services, including one-on-one therapy, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), restorative yoga, acupuncture, somatic therapies, and recovery coaching. Our approach integrates traditional therapeutic modalities with complementary practices to support the mind, body, and spirit.

We currently offer individual therapy sessions for mental health and substance use disorders, as well as our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). In addition, we provide restorative yoga as part of our holistic approach. In the near future, we will be expanding our services to include acupuncture, somatic therapies, and Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) recovery coaching.

The IOP at Adira Health & Wellness is a structured treatment program designed for individuals who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy provides but do not require inpatient care. It is ideal for those transitioning from inpatient treatment, experiencing a relapse, or needing intensive support while maintaining daily responsibilities. The program includes group therapy, individual therapy, skills training, and restorative yoga, and is available both in-person and virtually.

Our IOP incorporates a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based sobriety, Seeking Safety, and Gestalt therapy. These approaches are designed to help clients develop coping skills, manage stress, and support their mental health and recovery.

Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. It can help reduce stress, anxiety, and pain, and is particularly beneficial for managing withdrawal symptoms and cravings in individuals recovering from substance use disorders. Acupuncture supports both physical and emotional well-being, making it an effective complementary therapy in mental health treatment.

During an acupuncture session at Adira Health & Wellness, you will lie comfortably on a treatment table while our licensed acupuncturist inserts thin needles into specific points on your body. The session typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes, and most clients find the process to be relaxing. After the session, you may feel a sense of deep relaxation and rejuvenation.

Restorative yoga is a gentle, therapeutic form of yoga that focuses on relaxation and healing. It involves holding poses for extended periods with the support of props to promote deep relaxation. This practice helps to calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and support emotional and physical recovery. It is particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with anxiety, trauma, or substance use disorders.

Restorative yoga is offered as part of our holistic approach to therapy, both as a standalone practice and within our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Our trauma-sensitive yoga instructors tailor sessions to meet the specific needs of our clients, helping them reconnect with their bodies, release tension, and develop mindfulness as a tool for managing stress and supporting recovery.

Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that focuses on the connection between the mind and body. It involves techniques such as breathwork, movement, and body awareness exercises to help clients release stored tension and trauma. Somatic therapy is particularly beneficial for individuals who have experienced trauma, chronic stress, or who are in recovery from substance use disorders.

Somatic therapy at Adira Health & Wellness includes techniques like body scanning, breathwork, and intuitive movement. These practices help clients become more aware of bodily sensations, recognize patterns of tension, and release stored energy associated with trauma. The goal is to restore the connection between the mind and body, promoting overall well-being.

A Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) is a professional with lived experience in recovery who provides peer-based support to individuals navigating their own recovery journeys. CRSWs offer practical support, encouragement, and accountability, helping clients set and achieve their recovery goals. They are uniquely positioned to guide others through the challenges of early recovery, offering empathy and insight based on their own experiences.

Recovery coaching is focused on helping clients set and achieve specific recovery goals, offering practical support and accountability. Unlike therapy, which often explores the underlying causes of addiction or mental health issues, recovery coaching is action-oriented and centered on building skills and strategies for maintaining sobriety and managing life in recovery. CRSWs provide guidance and support that is both empathetic and informed by real-world experience.

Yes, family involvement is an important component of recovery and is encouraged in our IOP and other services where appropriate. Family therapy sessions can help address communication issues, resolve conflicts, and strengthen the support system that is crucial for lasting recovery. We believe that involving loved ones in the healing process can enhance outcomes and foster a more supportive environment for recovery.

The IOP is suitable for individuals who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy offers but do not require the 24-hour care of an inpatient program. It is particularly beneficial for those transitioning from inpatient treatment, experiencing a relapse, or needing intensive support to manage mental health or substance use disorders. If you are unsure whether the IOP is right for you or your loved one, we encourage you to contact us for an assessment.
